About Toyota Rumion
Toyota recently registered the Rumion trademark in India, giving everyone a hint at the brand’s upcoming product. Rumour has it that the Rumion will be the rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga for the Indian market. That said, Toyota is expected to launch its new car here by later this year or in 2022. In fact, Toyota already launched the Ertiga-based Rumion in South Africa in October 2021.
Going by the South African Ertiga-based model by Toyota, the Rumion will be an identical twin of the Ertiga in terms of exterior. Having said that, there will be basic changes to differentiate it from its Maruti Suzuki counterpart. For instance, the South African model of the Rumion gets a new grille, alloy wheels and of course, the Toyota logo.
On the inside, the Rumion is likely to retain the same design as the Ertiga. At the same time, the MPV might come with a refreshed interior and decorative trim in the form of a new colour. Apart from that, most features of the Ertiga are very likely to be carried forward.
The Rumion is reportedly expected to have a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine mated to either a manual gearbox or automatic. It is most likely to produce 103bhp and 138Nm of torque - the same as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga available in the country.
